A couple of weeks ago, I was at Rylie's school and her teacher pulled me aside to tell me that Rylie had won a contest that the VFW Ladies Auxiliary held. She would be getting an award the next Friday during the Student of the Month assembly and it was a secret. We kept the secret and showed up to the assembly. Rylie was sitting up front with a group of students. I am not sure if she saw us come in or not. I asked her later what they told the kids who had to sit up front. She said they were suppose to be showing the kids how to sit the right way during the assembly.
They started announcing the winners for each class. Everyone was called up except Rylie and she was left sitting in the front by herself. It was then announced that she had been the winner for her classroom, the first grade in the school district and had taken 3rd place for the state of Montana. I think the contest was for K-2 kids. Not sure if that is completely accurate. She received a certificate, her picture in a frame, a $2 bill, colored pencils, 2 Lincoln dollar coins, and a cute puppy stuffed animal.
She was quite surprised and we are very proud of her. Good job, Rylie!
